I was sitting on a bench at the hospital and noticed one of those wheeled carts with tons of little labelled bins. It got me really motivated to reorganize the pantry when I got home. I was going to buy little bins and label them, so I could put things on the top shelf without pulling everything down. Imagine a little labelled bin for all the orphaned lids from promotional travel mugs I can no longer find! What about the little canned meats that people buy you as a gift that you don’t eat? Maybe that needs a bin with a label too.
I am kind of two minds when it comes to cleaning and organizing the kitchen, I have two minds. I like the IDEA of a clean kitchen. However, the broom and mop don’t motivate me because you never can finish. There is always a spec on the floor. But show me a whole line of cute bins and I will spend $1,000 (in my mind.). I bought a DYMO Labelmaker awhile back, but am waiting for a few spare moments to set it to work.
I wish I had one when I was in school, because I had a serious disorganizational issues that stem from my childhood. The only time I was organized was the week I got to select brand new matching horse or unicorn folders for the trapper keeper I shopped at four different stores to find. A plain one wouldn’t do.
Then, things went quickly downhill.
The moral of the story is: When sending your kids back to school, buy them those label machines. You may think its nerdy, but when they grow up they will be a functioning adult who has a beautifully organized kitchen.
