I am having a real hard time these days remembering what’s good for me and what’s bad for me. Some reports say that eggs are bad, and some say eggs are good. Sometimes fat is good, sometimes it isn’t. Then there are things that are good for you only if you are a left handed astronaut who never was exposed to chicken pox as a child, is third generation Ukranian on their mom’s side, Dutch and Native American on their dad’s side, under 5′ 10″ and even with all that, it is only good between the hours of 3:15 and 6:21 Pacific Time on an empty stomach.
In otherwords, I am really in trouble. The only saving grace is that I use the excuse people use when someone has a bad habit, yet lives to see their 100th birthday: I don’t know something is bad for me, so it doesn’t affect me. When George Burns passed away, he himself used just that explanation: that he was born before anyone knew that cigars were bad for you. Therefore, some may use that as justification to take it up, not even taking into at Mr. Burns was just very lucky and thousands of others didn’t make it that far.
Coffee, on the other hand, is now known to have antioxidants. The problem that usually offsets this benefit, is that coffee is very acidic and dehydrating. There are certain types of healthy coffee that are a little more alkaline that bring this problem back into balance. In fact, Gano Coffee is made using Reishi Mushrooms as the active ingredient.
Tea can be made out of a wide variety of roots and herbs (not to mention artificial chemicals). If coffee is not made solely from coffee beans, is it really still coffee? That is a good question. Maybe its coffee because of the whole esthetic quality to it. Afterall, some people I know argue that things called Hazelnut Delight are not “real” coffee so Reishi coffee served black would seem more like the real thing verses these imposters.
Have you tried any of the healthy coffees? If so, comment and let me know what you thought!
