I remember when Bobby Flay stood on the cutting board on the original Iron Chef. I figured he didn't win any brownie points for that one, and then the next thing I know he has his own show(s) and is everywhere. I am sure they had planned to give him a show no matter what.

I absolutely love Hell's Kitchen!! Ramsey is at times (most of the time!) over the top, but that is entertainment! And his restaurant does have a reputation so they better be the best to work there!
I love a lot of the food network shows like Iron Chef and Barefoot Contessa (paula Dean, and Bobby Flay I do not like!)

I had enough experiences with screaming chefs when I was a waitress, that I don't need to watch one more. I loved Julia, especially her book that was published after her death by her nephew, all about her life in France.

Thanks for finding me on EntreCard. Your blog is a riot. :-)

On some shows where chefs are competing, sometimes they tell you what restaurant they are with so you can look for reviews on the internet for it or ask your friends in that town what their experiences were there.

On this one I notice it tells you they are a private chef, caterer, a head chef at a restaurant, etc, but doesn't mention the establishment. Maybe to make them more anonymous?

I love Hell's Kitchen! This group doesn't seem to be as skilled though, maybe that's what the producers want us to think.
